Specialized physiotherapy
Craniocervical, temporomandibular (TMJ), and orofacial.
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) plays a fundamental role in essential functions such as chewing, speaking, yawning, breathing, and swallowing. When its function is disrupted, discomfort can arise that affects both oral health and overall well-being.
At the DOA clinic, we address TMJ disorders and orofacial pain from a holistic perspective, combining the expertise of our dental, oral surgery, and orthodontic team with specialized physiotherapy. This coordinated approach allows us to identify the root cause of the problem and design a personalized treatment plan for each patient.
What symptoms might be related to a TMJ disorder?
Temporomandibular joint disorders can cause pain in the jaw, face, or neck, as well as clicking, locking, or limited mouth opening.
They can also be associated with bruxism, headaches, migraines, muscle tension, and ear discomfort, such as tinnitus or a feeling of pressure.
In some cases, these symptoms appear after trauma, surgery, or as a result of long-term functional problems.
A comprehensive treatment to restore function
We conduct a thorough evaluation to identify the root cause of the problem. Each treatment is tailored to the individual patient’s needs and is developed in a coordinated manner by our professionals in dentistry, surgery, orthodontics, and physiotherapy, offering comprehensive, evidence-based care.
Physiotherapy treatment can combine specialized manual therapy, re-education of breathing, swallowing and neuromuscular control, along with personalized exercises and guidelines to restore function, reduce pain and promote lasting orofacial health.
